As U.S. customs enforcement tightens, Gnosis Freight adds Customs Alarms to its Global Trade Compliance Suite to help importers identify risks earlier.

New capability connects customs status events with live shipment milestones to flag filing issues, customs holds, and release risks before they become costly disruptions.

CHARLESTON, S.C. — A June 2026 executive order directing U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to strengthen importer oversight, audits, and enforcement is raising the importance of effective trade compliance controls. Yet many importers still rely on disconnected filing systems, customs brokers, and carrier updates to identify problems that can delay cargo and create financial exposure.

Gnosis Freight is addressing that gap with Customs Alarms, part of its rapidly expanding Global Trade Compliance Suite. This new exception-monitoring capability connects customs activity with the physical movement of freight to identify ISFs approaching critical deadlines without CBP acceptance, active customs holds and exams, and shipments awaiting customs release, giving importers earlier visibility into issues that require attention.

Gnosis is advancing the Global Trade Compliance Suite across three connected areas: ISF Filing Management, Trade Document & Compliance Management, and Customs Alarms & Milestones. The suite is designed to bring more of the filing, documentation, and monitoring work surrounding U.S. imports into the same system that tracks and manages the freight itself.

How Customs Alarms works

Gnosis combines customs status events with shipment milestones from ocean carriers, terminals, and railroads to provide a more complete picture of customs compliance throughout the shipment lifecycle.

Its exception logic evaluates customs status against the shipment's actual lifecycle. For example, it compares ISF acceptance with mother-vessel loading dates, tracks customs holds and exams until corresponding release events are received, and monitors whether shipments have cleared customs as they approach or reach their destination.

Rather than requiring teams to interpret individual event codes or reconcile data across systems, Gnosis translates these signals into shipment-specific alarms, with configurable warning windows and notifications that help direct each issue to the people responsible for resolving it.

“A customs status alone doesn't tell you which shipment is at risk or what needs to happen next,” said Jake Hoffman, CTO of Gnosis Freight. “We're connecting customs events to the actual movement of freight so we can identify potential filing issues, unresolved holds, and release exceptions before they cause bigger problems. As customs enforcement increases, we're giving importers a more reliable way to catch exceptions early, act on them, and keep their freight moving.”

From compliance visibility to operational control

For importers, the value extends beyond identifying a filing problem. Earlier detection gives compliance teams more time to correct discrepancies, verify broker performance, and address unresolved customs issues. It also gives logistics teams advance notice of shipments that may require changes to pickup schedules, transportation plans, or delivery commitments.

By connecting customs data to the freight it affects, Gnosis helps importers strengthen compliance oversight, reduce exposure to potential penalties, and limit avoidable delays and demurrage costs.
